At Bloomington Cat Hospital, we understand that your cat is a part of your family.  We want to help you keep them as healthy and happy for as long as possible.  This page will help explain how and why we recommend certain foods, tests, or procedures. 

At our hospital, we prefer to focus on preventative medicine, which is to try to detect diseases early when they are easier and less costly to treat.  This is why we recommend blood screening tests yearly for cats of a certain age.  The sooner a condition is diagnosed, the better chance your cat has of making a full recovery.

Vaccines are a part of every cat's general health, since so many diseases can be prevented by them.  The most common diseases are caused by viruses, and can rapidly spread between cats.  Cats can be sensitive to vaccines and their components, however, so we are using what we feel are the safest vaccines on the market today that stimulate the most response without causing unwanted side effects.


One of the most important things to help keep your cat healthy is to feed them a premium cat food.  These foods were especially designed for your cat with all the vitamins and nutrients they need for optimum health.  Feeding a good diet will go a long way in helping your cat's immune system fight off diseases as well.  We stock a full range of appropriate life-stage foods for your cat as well as prescription foods.
